    Description

    READ CAREFULLY:
Cypress Technology manufactures "excellent" products which are often sold by other companies under their own name (OEM or Private Label). This one, their DCT18, is sold by AV Tool Box, Sescom and others and is an excellent product BUT in my opinion is often
    NOT described adequately
. It can delay analog audio
but only in 50 ms increments
    .
If you know you need delays of 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 or 300 ms this will be an excellent solution for you.
But 50 ms is a HUGE delay when correcting lip-sync
and if you need an audio delay somewhere between these huge 50 ms steps it is not likely to be a satisfactory solution for lip-sync correction.
In reading the description of these products it might appear that delay adjustment is continuous but
    it is not
. It is in six 50 ms discrete "steps".
If you KNOW that analog audio (right and left channels on RCA red and white connectors) delay adjustment in 50 ms
    fixed steps
will work for your application this will be an excellent and low cost solution but if you don't
    KNOW
that we don't recommend you buy it.
A 5 volt power supply (wall wart) is included. If you have any questions don't hesitate to email me through eBay.
    If you need a
    digital audio delay
(optical or coax digital) which is designed for adjustment in 1 ms (or 1/3 ms in fine mode) steps by IR remote control while watching (the only way to really correct lip-sync in our opinion) please consider the Felston DD740, also on eBay. It can also be used for analog audio delay but will require converters to and from s/pdif  digital audio to analog. We offer an excellent ADC (analog to digital converter) on eBay. Search for 15-1242. We don't offer any DAC's but most sound systems have digital audio (s/pdif) input.
The main advantage of the DD740 in correcting lip-sync is it allows you to easily change the audio delay to match the changing video delay without disturbing the image as you watch. Video delay changes from source to source and even from program to program on the same channel which is why a "fixed" audio delay won't solve the lip-sync problem.
If you want more info visit: www.LipFix.com and read  the research  from Stanford that proved lip-sync error causes programs to be less believable.
