Description
This Anglo-Saxon ‘primary phase’ silver sceat circulated in the early 8th century. It features and unusual design with a degenerated stepped cross that looks more like a sunburst. We do know that the pattern was Frisian in origin, though several British designs copy this, as would be expected given the trade between the two societies.------
