Description
The Denarius is an ancient Roman silver coin that was struck in dozens of varieties. This coin is easy to distinguish from its counterparts as it features a large bunch of grapes as its unique centerpiece. In the New Testament, the gospels refer to the “Denarius” as a day's wage for a common laborer, and a single coin held the purchasing power of approximately 1 quart of wheat, or 3 quarts of barley at that time.
