Description
Antipas was the son of Herod the Great. He was not Herod’s first choice of heir and was even called “that fox” by Jesus after he ordered the execution of John the Baptist. The execution was instigated by Antipas’s wife, Herodias, after John publicly disproved of their marriage. This coin was circulated from 4BCE-39CE and features an upright palm branch with the date and name “Herod Tetrarch.”------
