Description
These bronze coins (or 'prutah') were issued by Pontius Pilate between 26 – 36 AD. They were heavily used and traded every day during the lifetime of Jesus. This coin was worth approximately 1/1000th
of a pound, and it cost about 10 of these to buy a single loaf of bread at that time.
